ABOUT MARY KAY

mk

Mary Kay Duwe is an oil painter specializing in landscapes. Her first love is plein-aire painting (painting outdoors on location) where she can truly observe and record the beauty of God’s creation.

As a contemporary impressionist painter, she attempts to depict beauty and interest in landscape of this area. Painting on location with other local artists is always a challenge, especially when dealing with the elements of weather and changing light. To this artist, her paintings in oil are an expression of nature, not a duplication of it.

Several years after receiving a B.A. in Spanish from the University of California at Berkeley, Mary Kay attended Johnson County Community College where she studied drawing and painting under Jean Howard. She also attended the University of Kansas where she studied landscape painting under Robert Sudlow, a well-known landscape painter.

Her exhibits include two one-artist shows at J.C.C.C., the J.C.C.C. student show, the KCRCHE show, Executive Gallery 95 in Overland Park, Leavenworth Mutual Savings and Loan, Ranchmart Gallery, the Plaza Art Fair, the Westport Art Fair, The Gallery, located in Leawood, Kansas, the Malibu Gallery in Shawnee, Kansas, the R. G. Endres Gallery of Prairie Village, KS, and the South Wind Art Gallery of Topeka, KS ( http://southwindartgallery.com ).
